Powerpoint Slideshow unzip and click play in the dls folder I have known Doug longer than anyone else in my life other than my own family members. We worked together, we shared a home for several years and partied together..a lot! Our house was the center of the universe every Friday and Saturday night, friends would drop by, we would BBQ, we would play music (Doug was a drummer and I played guitar) or just have a good time. None of us had a lot of money but we all had each other, I still think those days were some of the best times of my life. Doug always had a joke for every occassion, he would know when I was down and would continue to joke with me until I finally would give in and laugh. His jokes may have been inappropriate at times, but funny none the less. He loved pulling pranks on people, especially those who may have drunk too much and spent the night. I was the victim on many ocassions, to wake up with drawings and comments written all over my arms, legs and chest with a felt tip marker. We shared a love of music and more specifically blues music. Stevie Ray Vaughan was his favorite musician...Doug was the one to call me when he learned of his death, I know it hurt him deeply as it did me. I hope he gets to meet Stevie and his other favorites who have passed on. Doug loved the Dallas Cowboys...every game was a celebration at his house. He had made up a ritual we would do for every game. At the start of every game everyone would take a shot while the opening kickoff was in the air. Touchdowns were another shot, field goal was 1/2 a shot...and so on throughout the game. You can imagine it made the high scoring games somewhat rowdy. Another rule that was added later was for when the Cowboys were not doing good...it was the "Shot of Disgust" it could be requested at any time things were going bad for our Cowboys. Doug gave me a shot of friendship that lasted well over 25 years, and it is one I will savor the rest of my life.Thank you my friend. |
